The Health and Family Welfare Department is committed to providing good health services to pregnant women and newborns, these words were expressed by Dr. Manjit Singh Rataul, Senior Medical Officer, CHC Mananwala during the first meeting of the ANM and LHV group of Block Mananwala.

He said that under the maternal and child safety program of the Health Department, delivery (normal and cesarean) treatment, medicines are absolutely free at government health institutions, along with blood tests and tests including ultrasound are done free of cost. In case of normal delivery, free hospital stay and food facility is provided for three days and in case of caesarean delivery for 7 days. Along with this, care of the newborn and birth dose (BCG, Hepatitis B and Polio vaccine) given at the time of birth are also given free of cost. Along with that, ANM and CHO were also encouraged to check for non-communicable diseases and make Abha ID.

On this occasion, Dr. Tamanna Shri, Gynecologist at CHC Manawala, said that as soon as you know that you are pregnant, you should register your name at the nearest government health center without hesitation and get yourself checked four times during pregnancy, including basic weight, urine, blood, BP, if you are having any other problem, it is very important to get it checked by a specialist doctor immediately. Apart from this, one should eat a balanced diet and consume green vegetables, fruits and milk rich in iron every day. Apart from this, he said that it has been observed that many women suffer from anemia during pregnancy, for which they should take one tablet of iron and folic acid every day for at least three months to complete the anemia. He said that during this stage, it is mandatory to get two tetanus vaccines or one booster vaccine, get the first and second tetanus vaccine. He said that the delivery should be done at a nearby qualified health center so that in case of any emergency, the mother and the child can be treated properly. On this occasion, he encouraged the ANM and ASHA workers to make as many eligible couples aware about the methods of family planning and the benefits of a small family and asked them to promote family planning cases.
