Amritsar, April 29 Kuljit Singh
The Punjab government’s infrastructure project, the Sultanwind bridge, is set to be operational by December 2025, six months ahead of its scheduled completion date of June 2026. Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO announced this while reviewing the bridge’s progress, accompanied by Constituency MLA Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar.
The bridge will be operational six months ahead of schedule, despite being initiated only seven months ago.
He said that The project is expected to be completed at a cost of Rs 22.68 crore, saving the government Rs 11.52 crore from the approved budget of Rs 34.20 crore. Minister said that The 725-meter-long and 14-meter-wide bridge will have a 5.5-meter-wide service lane on both sides, along with drains for water drainage and rain harvesting. He described that The bridge will facilitate easier access to religious sites such as Shri Darbar Sahib Amritsar, Tarn Taran Sahib, Gurdwara Baba Deep Singh Ji Shaheed, Tahla Sahib and Baba Buddha Ji. ETO said that The bridge’s completion will alleviate traffic jams, providing relief to devotees, residents of Sultanwind, and colonies along the Amritsar bypass.
Mr. Harbhajan Singh ETO stated that
“With the construction of this bridge, we aim to provide a convenient and hassle-free experience for devotees visiting nearby religious sites.” “We are committed to delivering infrastructure projects efficiently, and the early completion of the Sultanwind bridge is a testament to our efforts.”
