On the auspicious occasion of Shaheed Azam Sardar Udham Singh Ji’s Martyrdom Day, his birthplace Sunam Udham Singh Wala wrote a golden chapter in the history of higher education in Punjab. On this historic occasion, world renowned foreign universities and international industrial organizations signed mutual Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to develop and support the proposed Shaheed Udham Singh Shaheed Skill Development and Entrepreneurship University Punjab.
This proposed university is being established by the Kamboj Foundation through Shaheed Udham Singh Educational Society in collaboration with the Punjab Government. Its objective is to become a world-class center in the field of skill development, entrepreneurship, innovation, applied research and industry-related higher education. Which will further the ideals of Shaheed Udham Singh Ji’s sacrifice, patriotism, national construction.
More than 1900 members of the Kamboj community and representatives of other communities from across the country participated in this event. Thousands of people paid tribute to Shaheed Sardar Udham Singh Ji and witnessed this historic international MOU signing ceremony. This huge gathering became a symbol of a common resolve for nation building through education, innovation, entrepreneurship and empowerment of youth. The event organized at BB Grand Hotel Sunam brought together saints, senior government representatives, MLAs, high officials, representatives of international universities, industry leaders and renowned educationists. This event inaugurated a world-class university dedicated to education, research, innovation, entrepreneurship and nation building. The chief guest of the event was the Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan. On behalf of the Honorable Chief Minister of Punjab, Shri Aman Arora (Cabinet Minister for Industries and Commerce Investment), Shri Harpal Singh Cheema (Cabinet Minister for Finance) and Shri Barinder Goyal (Cabinet Minister for Water Resources, Land and Water Conservation, Mining and Geology) participated. Other prominent personalities included Shri Goldy Kamboj MLA, Dr. Jamil-ur- Rehman MLA and senior officers of Higher Education Invest Punjab and other government departments. All the honorable guests, international representatives and special invited guests who arrived at the event were warmly welcomed by the team of Dr. Sandeep Singh Kaura, Founder Chancellor Shaheed Udham Singh Skill Development and Entrepreneurship University Punjab and Dr. Mangal Singh Kishanpuri, Chairman of Kamboj Foundation. During his address, Dr. Kaura gave detailed information about the vision, objectives and future roadmap of the university. He said that this university is a world-class institution in the field of skill development, entrepreneurship, innovation, research and industry-related higher education. It will be developed as a standard setting institution. International Memorandums of Understanding were signed with (Thompson Rivers University) Canada, (Amazon Web Services) America, (IT Education Services) Singapore and Dassault Systèmes. On this occasion, Dr. Suresh Natarajan CEO Singapore, Mr. Justin Kalban Associate Vice President International, Thompson Rivers University, Mr. Tanuj Mittal (Business Head Dassault Systèmes India) and Mrs. Trideep Kaur (Amazon Web Services) represented. Mr. Aman Arora Ji assured that efforts will be made to convene a special one-day session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha to pass the Shaheed Udham Singh Shaheed Skill Development and Entrepreneurship University Punjab Act. This assurance was also supported by the Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Sardar Kultar Singh Sandhwan. In this special session, the Kamboj community and Shaheed Udham Singh from the country and abroad The participation of the devotees of the ji has been envisaged. In this event, all the members of the 21-member Governing Body of Kamboj Foundation led by Dr. Mangal Singh Kishanpuri (Chairman, Kamboj Foundation), Professor Suba Singh President, S. Man Singh Dhamma Ji Vice President, Justice Jagdeep Singh Mehrok Retired, Shri BSP Dhanju, Shri Harjinder Singh Handa and other office bearers and all the members of the Governing Council of Shaheed Udham Singh Educational Society worked hard to make this event a grand success. All the family members of Shaheed Udham Singh were present under the leadership of Sardar Hardial Singh and were highly respected by the Kamboj Foundation. The historic presence of more than 1900 community members and special guests made this event one of the largest community gatherings held in the memory of Shaheed Sardar Udham Singh. This event was a world-class event. The level became a symbol of a shared vision for the establishment of a university that would inspire future generations and give Punjab a new identity on the world education map.
