World Pharmacists’ Day is celebrated with cheer and hope worldwide, and “Transforming Global Health” is the theme for this year, which is particularly timely and well in place as we all face the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is indeed, the time for all Pharmacists to come together and transform Healthcare and the ways we know and understand ‘Human Health’. To acknowledge and celebrate the same, School of Medical and Allied Sciences, G D Goenka University organized a Live Webinar on ‘Rethinking Clinical Trials and Reforms in the Post- COVID Era’ with Dr. Pooja Sharma, Associate Director and Head, Medanta Institute of Education and Research at Medanta, Gurugram. The session was Moderated by Prof. (Dr.) Rohit Dutt, Associate Dean, SoMAS. Dr. Pooja began the session that how Clinical development time of the trials in the present scenario are drastically overlapping, as traditionally, vaccines would take years before their final manufacturing. Accordingly, Regulatory support has been tremendously swift for Clinical trials in the present COVID-19 era and further she shed light on various Clinical trials designs. Dr. Pooja then, deliberated about the post-COVID era dramatic shifts and changes. Dr. Pooja’s message to stand together and support fellow Healthcare workers struck chords with everyone, as we all realize the entire Healthcare Community’s role and responsibilities for contributing to Nation’s Public Health. The Webinar culminated with some insightful questions and concerns enwrapping pertinent points of departure for the present times.
An Online Tele-Consultation Camp was also organized by School of Medical and Allied Sciences, to engage in the realm of Pharmacy even more by ‘knowing how’ related discourses of imperatives themes and concerns. The Panelists for the Camp included Mr. Kuldeep Chauhan, Senior Project Leader-Clinical Research Operations, Medanta Institute of Education and Research, Medicity, Gurugram. Other Panelists were Dr. Himanshu Baweja, Dr. Rahul Singh and Ms. Suhani Sinha, all experts in Academic and Industrial domains of Pharmacy, and teaching as Assistant Professors at SoMAS. The Consultation Camp witnessed coming together of young(students) and experienced(Faculty members) ‘Pharmacy’ minds, as they understood the many nuances of Pharmacy and hoped for more ‘scientific’ promises of collective contribution to transform and revolutionize the Healthcare domain.
