Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Sakshi Sawhney conducted a surprise checking in various villages, including Akalgarh, Bhilowal, Udoke Kalan, Bhoy Wal, and Chapra Ram Singh, to promote stubble management among farmers. These areas were identified as hotspots last year due to widespread stubble burning.
The district administration, led by Mrs. Sawhney, aims to provide timely machinery and expertise to farmers, ensuring effective stubble management. Farmers will receive necessary equipment like balers, choppers, super seeders, and surface seeders for in-situ and ex-situ management. DC assured to Farmers for necessary equipment for stubble management. in District Officials from agriculture, revenue, panchayat department, Punjab fire service, and cooperative societies will engage with farmers. SDMs and officials will conduct regular field visits to monitor progress.
Mrs. Sawhney interacted with farmers, encouraging those using balers to make bales. She emphasized the negative impacts of stubble burning on environmental health, farmer well-being, and soil fertility. Mrs. Sawhney urged farmers to refrain from burning stubble. DSP Ravinder Singh, Agriculture Officer Tajinder Singh and other officials accompanied during the visit.
