Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu inaugurated Spring Festival

Amritsar, March 15, 2022 ( Kuljit singh) – On the ongoing second Day of Spring Festival of Flower, Plants and Rangoli being organized by Guru Nanak Dev University, there were heavy rush of flower lovers and students to visit this mega event. Today the exhibition was formally inaugurated by Professor Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor in the premises of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan of the University. A large number of flower and plant lovers & students were present on this occasion.

Prof. Sandhu said that it is a great venue for the exhibition as people can enjoy both the University environment and the festival. He said that our life style and greed to earn more is destroying our natural resources and we are not respecting it which is of great concern for our society. He said that these type of festivals make society and especially youth aware about the nature and surroundings.

Talking to the students, he emphasized that teachers and students are the builders of the society and students need to take a closer look at other disciplines related to life as well as work hard on their subject. He said that the main objective of Guru Nanak Dev University is to bring multi-faceted brilliance in the personality of the students and make them progress in their life.

The results of flower show and rangoli competitions will declared on the bases of the opinion of 4 experts. Dr. T.S. Banipal, Dean CDC, Dr Renu Bhardwaj, Director Research Dr Satwinderjit Kaur, Professor of Botany and Dr. P.K. Pati, Head Agriculture, Dr. Avinash Kaur Nagpal, Dr. Jatinder Kaur, Sh. H.S. Tinna, Dr. Kulbir Kaur, Mandeep Kaur, Col. A.S .Chahal, Nirmal Singh other staff members were presents on this occasion. The winners of these competitions will be suitably awarded and honored tomorrow

Dr. J S Bilga, Horticulture consultant said that we have received 500 entries in various categories for this competition. He also said that this exhibition is open for everyone from nine am to five pm.

Sh. Gurvinder Singh, Landscape Officer added that Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu has inspired to organize these festivals to promote the culture of floriculture and plantation in the society and to associate the students with nature. This shall be concluded on March 16.
